A Case pf Q Fever Associated With Neonatal Hepatitis

Abstract
Q-fever is an acute or chronic febrile disease, which is transmitted by inhalation of aerosol contaminated with Coxiella burnetti or ingestion of milk from infected animals.
We experienced a case of Q-fever in a 5 month-old male infant with neonatal hepatitis. The abnormal laboratory findings were mild granulocytopenia, mild thrombocytopenia, elevated sGOT/sGPT and & increased serum bilirubin.
Coxiella burnetii was identified in the patient's leukocytes by immunofluorescent technique.
After administration of rifampin & chlorampenicol, the prolonged high spiking fever was subsided within 48hours.
We report a case of Q-fever with a review of literatures.
